AAPHD Membership

Membership in AAPHD is open to all individuals concerned with improving the oral health of the public. There are several membership categories based upon affiliation in dental public health. All membership categories listed below are individual memberships.


Note: All membership categories are on a calendar year basis, January 1-December 31. While AAPHD does not prorate membership dues, anyone who joins/renews after November 1 will receive the remainder of the calendar year as well as the next calendar year for the same membership fee.

Individual Membership Categories

Benefits

 

Dentist (Full) Member 

An individual who is a dentist with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (“DDS”),  Doctor Dental Medicine (“DMD”) or equivalent degree from an accredited dental school and has:

  • completed a CODA-accredited advanced education program in dental public health; or
  • has a degree in public health-related field (ex. MPH, DrPH, MSc); or
  • has an interest in dental public health.
  1. Serve on the Association’s committees, councils, and task forces, as well as chair such committees, councils or task forces;
  2. Receive print and electronic publication of Journal of Public Health Dentistry;
  3. Access to members-only sections of the website; and
  4. Receive member rates for registration at the National Oral Health Conference.

Additional Benefits

  • May be elected to serve on the Board of Director
  • Vote in AAPHD Board of Directors elections and amendment of Bylaws

Associate Member

Any non-dentist individual, who has an interest in dental public health.  Examples of individuals that qualify include, but are not limited to, dental assistants, dental hygienists, dental therapists, physicians, nurses, academic researchers, administrators, etc.

  1. Serve on the Association’s committees, councils, and task forces,
  2. Receive print and electronic publication of Journal of Public Health Dentistry,
  3. Access to members-only sections of the website,
  4. Receive member rates for registration at the National Oral Health Conference (NOHC).

Additional Benefits

  • May be elected to serve as an Associate Member Liaison on the Board of Directors
  • Vote in Associate Member Liaison elections.

Dental Public Health Resident Member

Any individual currently enrolled and in good standing at a CODA-accredited Dental Public Health Advanced Education Program

  1. Serve on the Association’s committees, councils, and task forces;

  4. Student Member rates for registration at the National Oral Health Conference

Life Member

An AAPHD member in good standing, who has achieved seven years of continuous membership but who is no longer in the practice of public health or preventive dentistry. Please contact  AAPHD Membership Director at [email protected] for additional information.

Institutional Membership

Any corporation or other organization that provides services or products to the dental public health community.  The organization shall name a specific person as the official representative of the institution.

  2. Access to members-only sections of the website; and
  3. Receive member rates for registration at the National Oral Health Conference.
